FORM’s solo project revives lyrics from 1999–2002 England with modern production and uncompromising vision

[February 6, 2026] – Cold Ark, a new nu metal project from West Coast artist and producer FORM, has released its debut “Broken Signal” through Form Wave Studio. The project represents a unique approach to heavy music: songs built on lyrics written in England between 1999 and 2002, recorded and produced over two decades later with modern tools and zero compromise.

FORM, a multi-instrumentalist rooted in the late 90s and early 2000s alternative metal scene, handles all guitars, bass, keyboards, programming, and vocals for Cold Ark. The project draws influence from Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, and Linkin Park, but refuses to operate as a nostalgia act. Instead, Cold Ark exists as a continuation—what nu metal sounds like when it grows up instead of disappearing.

“These lyrics sat in notebooks for over twenty years,” says FORM. “The themes never stopped being relevant. Isolation, control, pressure, friction—they’re the same problems with a different date. I finally had the tools and clarity to finish what I started.”

The music combines downtuned guitars, mechanical rhythms, atmospheric synths, and vocals built for tension rather than polish. Production stays raw and deliberate, prioritizing clarity and weight over radio-friendly smoothness. Every track is designed to feel physical.

Cold Ark’s lyrical content addresses alienation in crowded spaces, systemic pressure, the erosion of identity, and the slow grind of becoming someone you don’t recognize. Written during the height of the nu metal movement, the words have aged into sharper relevance rather than nostalgic artifacts.

Form Wave Studio, FORM’s independent production house, operates on a philosophy of selectivity and standards. Cold Ark is the studio’s flagship project, representing its mission: developing original artists with strong identity and intentional sound.
